From Bari to Vieste

Welcome to Bari International Airport! You just landed...please hurry up and rent a car to get to our first stop!

This is the first tourist stop of your journey: Archaeological Park of Siponto. Here a contemporary artist Edoardo Tresoldi reinterpreted on the archaeological excavation site the volumes of the ancient Early Christian basilica located close to the existing Romanesque church, which was erected 600 years later. Enjoy this beauty and take some pictures as memories!

Welcome to Manfredonia, an historic city in the province of Foggia, located on the slopes of the Gargano promontory. The city was founded by Manfredi, king of Sicily, in 1256. Manfredi abandoned the port of the old Siponto to found this town.

I bet you’re hungry now! At 10 minutes drive from the Basilica of Siponto you can stop and have lunch in Manfredonia, where you can order some typical local dishes like mussels or pasta.

After lunch I suggest you to go and taste a delicious ice-cream in Tommasino Gelateria.

The origins of Manfredonia's Swabian Angevin Castle date to the 13th century, when it was built to protect the city. Today it is a treasure trove of history that holds the rich collection of the Archeology Museum. You have 30 minutes time, then you can go back to your car to leave for Vieste.

When you’ll finally get to Vieste you can check-in to the accomodation and get ready for the evening.

After arriving at the B&B Teta Vieste, I suggest you to have a relaxing shower and to take a nap.

The Suevian Castle is one of the most distinctive places in the city. Please check if it’s open, so you can have a tour inside.

If you are in Vieste, you cannot miss a visit to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Built in the second half of the 11th century, the Cathedral still preserves its overall ancient touch, despite the late-Baroque style.

People love Osteria al Duomo! In this Osteria you can taste some traditional local dishes.
