Despite the small and modest size of Lake Manyara National Park, the landscape is so varied and rich that it will still manage to leave you breathless.
Did you know that prior to the 1960 founding of this park in Tanzania, only Arusha National Park had been established? And did you know that this is where the first Tarzan movies were filmed?
For a compelling game drive you will need at least 3 hours. Time will seem to run faster than the gazelles. Animals move about undisturbed, and you must try to track them all down. Among towering ficus, mahogany and tamarind trees, giraffes, elephants, baboons, antelopes and more hide. What will be the first animal you spot?
In addition, the lakeshore is characterized by a flat landscape with lake environments and the presence of numerous hippos, flamingos, and thousands of different species of birds.
I made a long stop there to observe both the hippos protecting themselves from the sun by always being underwater and the female flamingos dancing to attract the attention of the males. It is wonderful! I would have been there for hours more.
