    Les Remparts de Saint-Malo

Walking around the walls of Saint-Malo is a unmissable experience. The oldest parts are from the 12th and 13th century but the fortified ensemble was greatly modified in the 17th century. It was mostly spared by the bombings of World War II in 1944 and it has 8 doors. You can walk around clockwise on about two kilometers. The door of Saint-Vincent marks the entrance of the old town and was built in 1709. It is an even greater show when the tide is high. Enjoy this nice walk with great Brittany sea breeze.

    Solidor Tower

Now that you have seen the walled city of Saint-Malo from the inside and from the sea, you can explore a bit more South outside the city walls. The Solidor tower is basically a fortified donjon composed in three towers united by walls. It was built in 1382 and restored in the 17th century. The tower was used to watch the traffic on the Rance river which gets into the sea at this point. Then it was a prison between the Revolution and 1811 and it is now a museum that tells you about navigation in those times. The view from the top is absolutely beautiful.
    Open hours Monday - Sunday 10:00 - 12:30, 14:00 - 18:00 Closed on Mondays in Winter.
