Kargopol and the White Sea

It's morning in Kargopol. The tranquility of Onega and the city itself. Hang your legs to the river, lie down on the wooden bridge of the pier. Breathe.

One of those cities whose streets are pleasant to wander around without purpose and still stumble upon something interesting. Here the intricate stone carvings decorate the cathedral. There's a bell tower nearby, where you can climb and see the city from above. The sound of the bells rang out over the city every day at 12 noon.

Stop by one of the stores in Kargopol to buy groceries for a picnic lunch and a long drive.

In this wooden eco-park, everyone will find something that resonates with their hearts - there are modern cartoon characters carved out of huge trees, and Vovka from the Far Away Kingdom, a maze, and a small contact zoo. Even if you're traveling without kids, it's a cool opportunity to dive into childhood, swing on swings, and even roll down an ice slide in the winter. They build ice figures here in the winter.

The ruins of the stone church also fit perfectly into the local scenery. The whole surrounding countryside reminds one of scenes from Kusturica's movies. The Kargopol region is left behind.

Lipin Bor. The sandy shore of White Lake. Here you can stretch your legs and walk along the wooden bridge and enjoy the utopia of village life.

The road might have seemed endless, but these northern landscapes are definitely worth it. Stop for a rest and a bite to eat in the fresh air.
You can't see the other shore. The waves are rumbling. The clay bottom and the long walk into the water. As in the Baltic Sea, to dive, you have to pass three shoals.

Fishing has been practiced here since ancient times, and Beloe Ozero is one of the largest in Russia.
Earlier (in the 15th century) Belozero was the tsar's fishing yard, where they caught snowflake, sterlet and pike-perch for the tsar's feasts.

This church had time to be a gymnasium. Not the most dramatic story. The bell tower offers a wonderful view of Belozersk, its churches and the huge lake.

For dinner tonight a royal pikeperch at the hotel restaurant, and afterwards a royal nap with a view of the sea. Have a good rest today so that tomorrow early in the morning you can go to the town of Kirillov.
