Before arriving in the centre, stop off at this beautiful open air museum. Here you can find 20th century sculptures, scattered throughout the park, with tons of hidden little gems in between. A true delight, especially during a sunny day. You will find a vast variety of mushrooms everywhere, that are quite fascinating in their size and different shapes.

Closely to the open air museum, you will find a wartime museum definitely worth exploring. Here you get to see the bunkers that were used during the WW2 and you will learn about the Antwerp’s participation during this time.
A fascinating history and to actually walk through the corridors where soldiers would hide and sleep, it’s quite a humbling experience. The only downside is that all signs are in Dutch and opening times are very restricted, so it will help to do some research in advance to make the most of this site.

The Het Steen museum right by the Schelde river is one of the oldest buildings in Antwerp. Dating back to 16th century, this site was previously a prison and later became a ship museum. Spend some time to explore inside and outside of the castle and go to the top where you will see a beautiful view of the city.

Take a pit stop at this cute and charming restaurant nearby. They offer a great selection of traditional Flemish dishes, big portions and the best burgers and mussels. The interior decor is even more fascinating, as the walls are decorated with pictures of grandmas that customers can bring and have them added to the wall. A 5-star experience all around.

A Goth fan? After visiting this church you will be. This gothic-baroque Catholic Church dating back to the 17th century is without a doubt the most fascinating church you will see. It’s rather like a museum, housing artworks and sculptures by Antwerp painters like Rubens & Van Dyck.
The sculptures are incredibly beautiful and detailed, almost feeling like you are walking through a Madam de Tusseuds museum of the goths. Make sure to visit the garden where the best sculptures are placed. Absolutely breathtaking.

Going from one end of the spectrum of the previous goth style museum, to one of the most high-tech, modern museums, you definitely get to appreciate how much humanity has advanced in terms of creation and technology.
This museum offers incredible displays and collections made by various artists. Themes ranging from Ancient Aztec and Columbus days, to modern day farming and art. There are no restrictions as to what can be displayed here, making it very exciting to see what you might stumble upon.

Finally, spend some time in nature, by visiting this wonderful nature park, the biggest in Antwerp. Here you will find ponds, lakes with swans and other animals.
Cute little huts amongst tall beech trees. An absolute dream to walk through the paths here covered with flowers and just get carried away the songs from the nature. Make sure to visit the maze for some fun.
