Grab the Last Glasses

You might recognize the name of the wineries from one of your recent lunch stops. If you didn’t get time to go inside and explore this winery, it’s finally time to do so.
Hop on an electric bike and zip through 5k of vineyards (with a guide!) and have fun as you learn about the up-and-coming apalta valley and get a peek at the historic Malbec barracks. If you are tired of doing the tours, enjoy and explore the beautiful gardens and sample their bestsellers. There is also a coffee shop nearby to grab a snack and a cup of joe.
Tours are at 10:30 every day and are available in English and Spanish. The last tour horse carriage tour leaves at 4:30 PM. Reservations are required:

A fun fact about Chile is that you’ll find more Peruvian cuisine options in restaurants throughout the country than traditional Chilean cuisine. It is fair to say that Peruvian food is bursting with so many flavors that can be made with so many different interpretations that it’s easy for a chef to make it its own. This resto-bar does just that. With a good variety of options, Peruvian food seems to shine through as the local’s favorite. Don’t forget to order your pisco-sour to mix it up a bit from your wine adventures.
The staff is friendly and several speak English so it might feel more welcoming to visitors. Reservations are not required.

Leave your car here and start to explore the historic downtown area of Rancagua on foot.

Every small town in Chile will always have a plaza where the locals can get together, go to church, and then stroll along the streets as they chat with their neighbors. Rancagua knows how to do this best. Since it's the region's capital, everything is bigger and more extravagant. As soon as you arrive at the "Plaza de los Heroes," head to the cathedral for a peek inside. Admire the beautiful light blue details on the ceiling.
Even though the cathedral has been restored and brought back to life, you can still notice some damage from the 2010 earthquake that shook the entire country, measuring 8.8 on the richer scale. With the seismic activity that occurs daily, you might even feel a shake or two yourself. Just remember, do as the locals do. If they are calm, stay calm and enjoy.

Once you leave the plaza, head towards “Calle Estado,” a unique pedestrian walkway with adobe colonial houses mixed with shops, cafés, and plenty of places to grab a quick bite.
It’s always a good idea to grab a snack as you stroll through town. If you're looking for a chocolate bar, try a Super 8. It’s a local favourite.

Take a short break and enjoy the rest of your snack at this small park with benches and green areas. As you walk around, you'll find some silos that have beautiful, colorful murals that were painted by a team of local artists and represent flora and fauna found in the Río Cipreses national reserve.
Back in 2018, when the mural was completed, it was the largest mural painting in Chile, and it still holds that title today.

Return to your car and start leaving the city, and head towards Ruta 5 for Santiago.

Most people never expect a casino to be in the middle of a highway in South America. Sun Monticello is a classic stop-over right before returning to Santiago. Spend a couple of hours exploring everything the area has to offer. This place is famously known for its casino. Once inside, you’ll be surprised by its size and maybe even play your last Chilean pesos for a chance to strike it big before leaving.
Check out their show’s schedule to see if there is something that might be of interest. Catch a comedy show or just some last-minute tickets to a live music event. Once you feel hungry, walk down the Boulevard Monticello, where you’ll find several great restaurants for whatever you want to eat. Lookout for “Locos” on a menu and try them. They are similar to Abalones or scallops, and when cooked correctly, they are more like heaven on earth.
