Road.Travel
- Learn more about one of the most important roads of ancient Najd.
- Experience how difficult it was to travel between cities in the past.
- Enjoy the stunning view from the folds of Tuwaiq Mountain.
The Caravan Trail is an ancient road, estimated to be hundreds of years old. It was the only entrance to Riyadh from the west. Approximately one kilometer long, the road is steep and rocky with many turns. The trail also had many resting places, because it was very stressful and exhausting for the caravans, especially the loaded one since it is very narrow, and could only take one camel. The trail has been rebuilt now with a convenient staircase and a seating area with umbrellas so visitors can enjoy the stunning views of Tuwaiq Mountain.

Aba AlQid Trail (Caravan Road)
Aba AlQid Trail or the Caravan Trail is the old route to Riyadh, for those arriving or leaving from the west of the region, and it has been used for hundreds of years. It is mainly a steep rocky trail that caravans used to take. The upper part of it has been rebuilt, and now has a staircase, with lighting and a seating area so that visitors could enjoy visiting the trail which is about one kilometer long. It was named Aba AlQid because when the caravans crossed these roads with camels, the ropes to which they attached their load were made of dried leather called “Qid” and were often torn and thrown on the sides of the road. The best time to visit the area is at sunset, where the magical view of the sun setting is observed from the side of Tuwaiq mountain.

The Start of the Path
There is an ancient mosque at the very bottom of the path, about one kilometer away to perform prayer due to the length of the path and its narrowness, since a traveler cannot pray there. The return is in the same direction.
