- Travel back in time 700 years through the magnificent Hämeenlinna Castle.
- Dine at over 120 meters in a 360° rotating restaurant.
- See the childhood home of the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
- Marvel at Finland's largest urban art space.
Two days. Two cities. The charming Tampere and Hämeenlinna. On this route you will visit the magnificent medieval town of Hämeenlinna, on the shores of romantic Lake Hattulanselkä. The second stop will be in Tampere, one of the most important cities of continental Finland surrounded by rivers, ponds and lakes. Thanks to the rapids connecting two lakes, the Näsi and the Pyhä, whose waters moved the turbines of its factories during the industrial revolution, this Finnish metropolis achieved an impressive development.
Although in this trip I am going to suggest excellent restaurants where to have lunch and dinner, it never hurts to take some snacks in the car in case you get hungry mid-morning or mid-afternoon. You can buy them in any supermarket or candy store in the Finnish capital. This itinerary can be done throughout the year -recommendable in spring-summer- but, if you travel in winter, get well informed about both temperatures and weather conditions to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It is not superfluous to take binoculars with you, the infinite nature hides a multitude of surprises.

The Metropolis of the Lakes: Tampere
The metropolis of the lakes is an urban destination adored by Finns both to live and to visit. A city is discovered by wandering the streets, touching, sniffing, tasting. On this second day of the road trip you will focus exclusively on the city of Tampere, one of the largest cities in Finland and a public cultural center where children of all ages will find a place for fun.
You will taste the best donuts in the country, feel the past of the old factories that were the driving force of this city during the Industrial Revolution, bite into a mustamakkara -traditional black sausage- and visit the Tampere Cathedral and the Kaleva Church. Continue your journey with a good dose of fun at the Särkänniemi theme park, a spectacular panoramic view and a high altitude meal at the rotating restaurant Näsinneula or discover who are the best spies in the world. On the way back you will drive to Helsinki remembering a short and very complete trip through the interior of Finland.
