Old Believers used to live in Bynhy. Many things have been preserved here from tsarist times: old huts, the surrounding landscape and churches.
In Bynhy there are two churches: St. Nicholas and St. Kazan. The last one was laid in 1789, consecrated in 1797, and since then it has never been closed.
Inside Nikolskaya church the icon decoration was kept. During the Soviet times it was not plundered. The abundance of a cast iron in the church is unusual. The cast-iron plates covered the floor and stairs. The church is unusual for the presence of chimes on the bell tower.
Not far from the Nicholas church in Lenin street remained carved wooden houses of the second half of the XIX and early XX centuries.

The villages Verhnie and Nizhnie Tavolgi are rich in red clay deposits, which were discovered here at the end of the 18th century. In Soviet times, the Nevyansk ceramics factory operated here.
Now the "Tavolzhskaya ceramics" and the Maslikov family operate here.
They both produce pottery, talk about their craft and hold master classes on making and painting ceramics.

Next we're going to Nevyansk. Here is the famous sloping tower. It is shrouded in many legends. It is not known exactly in what year it was built, who its architect is and why it is inclined.
According to one of the hypotheses, the soil under the tower began to subsidize during construction, and the construction sloped. Different angles of slope on the ground floor and the top floor of the tower point to that.
The inside of the tower can only be accessed on a guided tour. There you will visit the listening room, climb the tower bell tower, see the chime mechanism and watch a theatrical performance.
You can sign up for the tour at site of the Nevian Historical and Architectural Museum. It is better to make an appointment in advance, especially if you go on weekends. The tower is open to you daily from 9 to 19, on Wednesdays from 9 to 20.

In the XVIII-XIX centuries, many Old Believers lived in Nevyansk and its surroundings. This owes to the birth of the Nevyansk Old Believers' icons.
Now many of its samples are exhibited in the House of Nevyansk icons. The museum works at the icon painting studio, whose works can be seen in Ekaterinburg temples, in other Russian cities and even abroad.
The museum has a collection of more than 300 icons. Here you can see exhibits that are several centuries old, as well as modern icons.

You can see the temple of Alexander Nevsky from afar. It stands in Shural on a small hill. The temple is rather young: it was laid in 1906.
The wasteland around the temple used to have a cemetery. Now only rare ancient marble tombstones remind us of it.
