The church that survived to this day began to be built in 1904 on the order of Moscow industrialist and businessman Ivan Pavlovich Kuznetsov. Earlier on the same place there were wooden temples, one of which, according to the local chronicles, was destroyed during Batyi's invasion, the other was severely damaged during the Time of Troubles.
The new Assumption church managed to survive many tragic moments of Russian and Soviet history. The church was not closed during the Soviet period, though part of its decoration and a few bells were lost.
Today the interiors of the church with its exquisite wall paintings and carved oak iconostasis are of special interest.
