Enjoying a Spectacular Route Along the Most Magical Coastline in Galicia
Today, you will visit unique places where the sea is the protagonist. Endless beaches, picturesque villages, and lighthouses that have saved hundreds of lives await you on a route that includes seafood and the best Galician products.
09:3030 min
Puerto de Malpica de Bergantiños
Malpica stands out for its port (one of the most important inshore fishing ports in Galicia), promenade, and fish market. Here, the freshest fish and the tastiest seafood are still sold in the traditional way: rays, sardines, horse mackerel, sole, sea bream, octopus, spider crabs, crab, barnacles… Later, you can try them at the lunch stop.

Playa de Seaia
Get your camera ready! Leave the car in the car park and walk a few metres to admire the stunning views of Malpica and the Sisargas Islands. If you dare to go down to this virgin beach shaped like an inlet and barely 250 metres wide, a small dune system will welcome you.

Cape of Saint Adrián Lookout
You can reach this viewpoint on foot or by car. On arrival, spectacular views of the ocean, the Sisargas, and the pretty fishing village of Malpica de Bergantiños that you have just visited await you. If you are lucky, you will be able to see some birds that are in danger of extinction, such as the yellow-legged gull or the shag.

Punta Nariga Lighthouse
In a magical setting overlooked by the sea, the Punta Nariga lighthouse is the most modern lighthouse in Galicia. Built in 1995 by César Portela, it is 50 metres high, has a light range of 22 miles, and one of its triangular bases simulates the prow of a ship entering the sea. The prow is crowned by a bronze sculpture by Manolo Coia called 'O soño do emigrante' (the emigrant's dream).

Roncudo Lighthouse
Not as visited as the previous one, you will still be struck by its beauty. Located in a wild and ghostly setting, it owes its name to the roar of the waves crashing against the cliffs. It is precisely the strength of these waters and their characteristics that make the goose barnacles of this area considered the best in Galicia.

Miramar de Corme
The time has come to regain your strength and taste the delicacies of the area: Roncudo Barnacles, scallops with garlic, grilled lobster, langoustines, turbot, sardines… Savour and enjoy the flavours of Galicia in this restaurant specializing in seafood and fish.
In high season, it's recommended to book a table in advance, as well as consult their opening hours by phone.

Laxe Lighthouse
Make an essential stop in the beautiful town of Laxe to contemplate, among other things, its lighthouse. Built in 1920 in the image and likeness of Roncudo, its privileged location offers dreamy views. Nearby, you will find the bronze sculpture 'A Espera', a tribute to the men of the sea and their loved ones who wait impatiently for their arrival in port.

Playa de los Cristales
Beautiful and unique, this beach gets its name from the small pieces of coloured polished glass that flood the sand. Although it is a very visited site, in the past this small cove was used as a rubbish dump. Then, all kinds of glass waste were thrown into its waters, but over time, the erosion of the sea and the wind were polishing the crystals and dragging them to the shore.

Playa de Trece Overlook
This stretch of unspoilt coastline is one of the most spectacular on the Costa da Morte. Although it is not the most suitable for bathing due to the strength of the Atlantic waves, do stop and photograph its incomparable natural beauty.
This inlet is 'guilty' of the name of this coast, as its history is marked by several shipwrecks. The most tragic is that of the English training ship Serpent, which sank on 10 November 1890 at Punta do Boi, killing 172 of its 175 crew members. The victims are buried in the nearby Cemetery of the English (Cemiterio dos Ingleses).

Cape Vilan Lighthouse
For many, this is the most beautiful spot on the Costa da Morte. Cabo Vilán was the first lighthouse to be built in Spain with electric light, and its location (atop cliffs over 100 metres high) will leave you open-mouthed. The museum inside, which is free, tells the history of the Costa da Morte.

Fisterra Lighthouse
The panoramic view from the westernmost lighthouse in Europe will leave you speechless. Erected in 1853 to mark this key geographical point in Atlantic navigation, its octagonal tower measures 17 metres, and its lantern, situated 138 metres above sea level, reaches more than 30 nautical miles. Its lamps emit a flash every 5 seconds. The 'Lighthouse at the End of the Earth' does not disappoint.

A Casa do Peixe
Its location, next to La Cruz beach and the marina of Muxía, will offer you wonderful views. The house speciality is conger eel, prepared in the traditional way in the family drying room. The menu also includes octopus (prepared in four different ways), fish and seafood, Galician meats, and rice dishes.
