    The Medieval City at the Confluence of the Nive and Adur Rivers

    An ancient walled city, the last day of the route is devoted entirely to discovering Bayonne. Strolling through the narrow streets of the historic centre and crossing the bridges over the river Nive for panoramic views are two of the main attractions.

    Église Saint-André

    Built in the heyday of Napoleon III, its neo-Gothic style is well-marked. It was built on the site of the former college of Bayonne and next to the Capuchin church that was later demolished.
    In part, it resembles the church of Notre-Dame in Paris, especially for its main facade with the large rose window. In its interior the stained-glass windows and the organ stand out.

    Musée Basque

    One of the best museums to learn about Basque history, especially that of Bayonne. Its explanations cover the daily life of the French Basques: from their origins and language, through work activities, architecture, etc.
