From this convenience store you will buy your picnic food to eat after your hike on the top of Belvedere de La Colonne while admiring the magnificent view over the Nantua lake and Jura mountains.

This is your starting point of hike to the summit of Belvédère de la Colonne and in the same time is a charming tiny waterfall.

For an astonishing panoramic view of the lake and the region take a trail starting in Nantua town which is 8 km long and the hill itself 925 high, great for cooling down in a hot day as a spot is cover by forest. While hiking, you will see characterizing for the area flora and fauna.
Spend some time on the top to admire this beautiful place you are at now and reward yourself with tasty launch you carried all the way to the top with you.

Drive to the nearby located Lac de Sylans and see the remainders of the ice extracting factory from 19th century.The minimum exposer to sun, geographic location created a comfortable condition for pure mineralized water which was desirable for many clients.
At the time of the factory, the ice on the lake in winter could reach up to 40ck thickness. The ice harvest could be carried up to March each year, proving a job to local workers. Look around at this quite intriguing place and how the whole process challenging at the time.

Pay a short visit to the building which used to be a Benedictine Abbey. Look at how well the blend of the Romanesque Cluniac and styles works in designed interior, which bright stone walls. Sit at this lovely restaurant where you can have a soothing view of the lake and in a warm atmosphere and excellent try a local speciality - Nantua sauce which has origin in 1st century and been mentioned by Roman culinary expect in his book “Apicius, the Culinary Art”, enjoyed by Louis X1, Luis XV.
It is called “quenelle” and consist of flour, egg, milk and fat and stuffed with meat or fish. Try a pike from local Nantua and Sylans lakes which is most real Nantua regional dish.
