Drive Along the Arabian Sea

Before starting the road trip, grab snacks and hot meals from Lulu Hypermarket.

Bandar Jissah is a great viewpoint in the suburbs of Muscat to view the Omani coastline merging with the city. Locals park their yachts at the marina here. There are plenty of short-term yacht rentals here.

Just a short drive outside of Muscat is a scenic beach and viewpoint to see the floating limestone cliffs in the Arabian Sea. Bander Khairan, meaning the 'Khairan Port' is an open sea area where a port was supposed to be built but rather a hotel is now built in the area. It is a great spot for many water activities too including scuba diving, wreck diving, and kayaking.

Wadi Dayqah Dam or also known as Quriyat Dam, is a popular picnic/lunch spot for people traveling from Muscat further South. There is a big shaded area near the mountains overlooking the dam, which has now changed into a picnic area. Near the dam, different water activities like dhow boat ride, jet skiing, and kayaking can be avail.

Quriyat Castle is an 18th century castle built along the Arabian Sea, that was also used as a watch tower to look over the Persian Gulf and intruders in the area from Iran. The castle is in dire need of renovation but it is still is a popular sightseeing spot in the town and the views of the Arabian Sea from the top of the castle are beautiful!

End the day by seeing beautiful sunset at the Qurriyat Cornich. There is plenty of picnic area space at the beach and also a track for walking and cycling.

End your day with dinner at Top Form Resturant, and Indian & Arabic restaurant managed by an Indian expatriate who claims to be running the small restaurant for thirty years. The food here is a mix of Omani and Indian recipes but it is simple and very affordable.

The first day of the coastal road trip has come to an end, so you can go to the hotel and just relax after intense daylight activities.
