This scenario is a great opportunity to learn the history of two palace and park ensembles of the XVIII century. A simple itinerary for an interesting day off. We will visit majestic Tsarskoye Selo with the Catherine Palace, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe. We will also see the small town of Pavlovsk with its palace and beautiful park. During our visit to the residences we will have a look at the personal apartments of the imperial family, admire their luxurious decorations and learn a lot of interesting facts!

Travel Itinerary and Road Trip Route

Day 1: Tsarskoe Selo and Museum-Reserve Pavlovsk

From St. Petersburg we will go to the city of Pushkin, where we will touch the history of Tsarskoye Selo - we will visit the Catherine Palace and the Tsarskoselsky Lyceum. After that we will go to the neighboring town of Pavlovsk, where we will see the land ownership of Empress Maria Feodorovna and walk along the cozy alleys of the residence.

Catherine Park (Екатерининский парк)

Here we have reached the poetic city of Pushkin. On its territory there is the world-famous architectural monument of the 18th century - Tsarskoe Selo. We will start our acquaintance with Tsarskoye Selo in the luxurious Catherine's Park - it is decorated with various sculptures and numerous sights. In winter (from 21 October to 24 April), admission to the park is free. The park is open daily from 7:00 to 21:00.

The Catherine Palace (Екатерининский дворец)

Catherine Palace is a masterpiece of Russian Baroque, which was worked on by outstanding architects. The exposition of the palace covers more than 300 years of history and introduces the life of the imperial family. Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum (Царскосельский лицей)

On the territory of Tsarskoe Selo there is another famous sight - Tsarskoe Selo Lyceum, the place where Alexander Pushkin and other noble children were brought up for 6 years. On a tour around the Lyceum you will visit various halls, the library with an authentic collection of books, classrooms, dormitories of the pupils and learn a lot of interesting facts and traditions. Pushkin Museum-apartment, the museum-lyceum and Derzhavin Museum-Estate are open on Saturdays and Sundays. The manor garden is working as usual.
