Waldau Castle was founded by the Teutonic Order and two centuries after its foundation it lost its defensive value and was used as a summer residence of the Grand Master.
Today there is a museum in the west wing, with unique exhibitions reflecting the spirit of knightly times.
In addition, if you travel between May and June, you can catch a tasting of the local Valdau asparagus variety. The delicatessen variety is not only bred on the castle grounds, but is also grown on a production scale.

It is the only one of Königsberg's forts that has been preserved almost in pristine condition. There is a small but very interesting museum with antiques.
Every day there is a tour of the fort, which begins at 17:00 and lasts 1 hour. Be sure to visit it, you can learn more about the history of the Fort.

Before returning to Kaliningrad, visit another historical place - Castle Brandenburg.
