It is Southern California’s largest apple farm, in operation since 1906. Between apples, berries, and pumpkins, the farm is busy much of the year, and even in the off season, there is always something to do—including a beautiful hike through the Oak Glen Preserve, which the farm is a part of. Get your map at the Montane Botanic Garden and Children’s Outdoor Discovery Center or online. Round trip from the Oak Knoll Park parking and back is about 2 miles.
Don’t forget to come back in the winter, when snow turns this landscape into a winter wonderland. When you return, check out the gift store with all sorts of artisanal goods, hay rides, and live country music, depending on the day. BBQ and other food is often offered here—grab a bite here or at the next stop for lunch. And, if you don’t press it yourself, pick up some apple cider on your way out.
