History of Vyazma

It was near Vyazma that large groups of Soviet troops were regularly killed in 41-42, first when trying to defend the city and stop the Wehrmacht, which was rushing to the east, then when trying to liberate the city. Under Vyazma died 33 army of General Efremov.
