Tallada and Water Cave, Two Trekkings to Fall in Love With Montgo

The day's route will begin with a midway stop at a viewpoint by the sea, a foretaste of what lies ahead. After a few kilometres and already inside the natural park, there are two trekkings to do where the landscape changes quite a lot: the path to the Cueva Tallada along the cliffs by the sea and the path to the Cueva del Agua, in the middle of the rocky formations of the Montgo. Finally, the last stop will be at the lighthouse of Cape San Antonio to enjoy one of the best sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea.
It is advisable to wear suitable footwear as you will be walking along many sections on paths with jagged rocks. You should also bring a bottle of water per person, sunglasses, and sun cream. All points of interest are outdoors on the route.

The path to the water cave is well signposted and takes about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace.
The scenery you can see during the walk gives you an idea of the beauty of this natural park: high, steep hills with green patches of pine forests.
The last part of the walk is a bit more demanding, but the reward of reaching the large cave at the top of the hill is worth it. From here you can see the town of Dénia, its harbour and the Mediterranean Sea.
The way back to the parking is along the same path. It takes a little less time as it goes downhill. After picking up the car, it's time to take a break to recharge your batteries and have lunch in one of the best restaurants in the area.

Here you will eat on a terrace overlooking the sea. Although the price is a little above average, it is justified by the quality of what they offer and the location.
Their specialities are seafood, fish, and rice dishes. You can't miss on your table to try a carpaccio of dried octopus or the exquisite Dénia red prawn. The best thing to do is to order some seafood as a starter and then some kind of rice as a main course.

Follow a medium-difficulty trekking along a path over the cliff and next to the sea until you reach the sea cave. It takes about half an hour each way, taking care as there are areas where the path is uneven. Not recommended for people with disabilities or children under 10 years of age.
The cave is accessed after a descent along the path. If the waves allow it, you can enter the cave.
The return trip is along the same path and also takes 30 minutes.
Due to the large number of people taking the route, there are certain times of the year when there is limited capacity. So, it is necessary to book access in advance on the official website of the Natural Parks of the Valencian Community. You have to download the voucher and then show it at the beginning of the path where the capacity control is.
