Walk the short, but steep incline to the top of the hill to Bamburgh Castle. Here you can explore the ancient castle's magnificent grounds and take in the exquisite views out to sea.

You can even climb the 287 steps of the narrow staircase, but double-check that it's open before you travel as it's been closed for the last two years due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Even if you don't climb all the way to the top, it's still an impressive sight to see from the ground and it makes for an excellent photograph subject from almost every angle.

The Royal Mile comprises numerous streets in the heart of the Scottish capital city and with dozens of souvenir shops, antique stores, bars, restaurants and plentiful museums, it's one of Edinburgh's best areas to explore.
