Alba, Capital Of Good Wine And Truffles

The Cathedral (found in Piazza Risorgimento is one of the city's main attractions. Built around 1500, in the Gothic style, it has been renovated several times. Very beautiful, it is also and especially worth a visit inside.
In the same Square you can also enter and visit the hallway and entrance to the Town Hall, inside which on the main staircase you will find a Pieta and several frescoes dating back to the late 1300s.

Alba's nickname is "city of a hundred towers" because of the strong presence of these buildings for protective purposes. Many have been torn down, others incorporated into the buildings.
The three best-preserved towers are the Bonino Tower, the Astesiano Tower and the Sineo Tower, and unfortunately they cannot be visited from the inside, but can only be admired from the outside. All the towers are close to each other, so it is impossible not to notice them.

We leave Alba and move to Grinzane Cavou, a tiny little town set in a remarkable landscape.
In summer the surroundings are a whole expanse of sunflowers in bloom.
Here we find a beautiful castle, inside which is the Langhe Museum. Packed with historical rooms, it will show us the treasures of the Cavour family, the one to which Camillo Benso (Count of Cavour) belonged.

If yesterday we took photos with the blue bench overlooking the vineyards, today get ready for another shot, on the red one.
One more shot from above albeit with a slightly different view: we are in the Langhe, the vineyard lands, and while they may look similar, they are all different.

We are in La Morra, "home of Barolo," a red wine that normally accompanies pork and beef, as well as cheeses and truffles from these areas.
However, there will be no shortage of red, white and dessert wines, as well as large 1.5-liter sizes.
Visit the winery and taste the wine at this farm. You can also walk among the vineyards, visit the winery and see the winemaking process, try authentic wines and take some home as souvenirs. Your friends will thank you!

To work off lunch and wine, let's go take some colorful photos at Brunate Chapel.
We reach it by car, but then you'll have to do a bit of walking.
The Chapel was built in 1914 to allow vineyard workers to shelter from the weather. In the late 1990s it was renovated by artists David Tremlett and Sol LeWitt.
Tremlett we already met on our first stop yesterday.
A curiosity told by Ceretto of Touring Magazine: the artists would receive for life, a bottle of fine wine every week, one for each. This was in exchange for the beautification work :)

The Museum of Magic, which is actually an association, aims to spread and create a magical and theatrical culture.
The association carries out outreach activities of to the children of the world through the Salesian missions of Don Bosco.
For info, click here The museum is open on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. while on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. However, I recommend checking the openings which may change according to the seasons.

We are in Barolo, and here a visit to the Wine Museum is a must to start discovering this beautiful village and its tradition of master winemakers.
The Museum is inside a noble palace, which alone is worth a visit.

I suggest: tris della tradizione (appetizer) consisting of vitello tonnato, tuna in rabbit, peppers.
