Visiting the Incredible City of Toledo

In the Jewish neighborhood, you will find this small synagogue. It is a surprise for those who visit it, no doubt. The white arcades are from the Muslim times when it was a mosque. A remarkable building and part of Toledo's history.

This is the only medieval mosque conserved in Toledo. It was built in 999 and is very well-preserved as was. It has beautiful frescoes and amazing views. One of the examples of the cultural mixture that had the town during the Middle Ages.

The Alcazar is a military fortress that has been used since Roman times. It has been, during the 3rd century, a Roman Palace, was used also by the Arabs, taken by Christian kings during the Middle Age, and then restored by Carlos I and Felipe II. Today is a military museum and one of the most emblematic buildings in town.

A wonderful medieval building, with a delicate gothic architecture, where Catholic Kings, Isabel and Fernando, are buried. The visit is impressive, and you will be captivated by the history and beauty of the building.

One of the old entrances to the city is a monumental gate, very well-preserved from the 16th century. It will give you a perfect idea of how people should feel during the old times when they arrive in Toledo.

Another entrance to the city, in this case, a medieval one, is the older gate in town, and it was built by Knights Hospitaller. You will appreciate a sun and a moon that gives the name to the gate.
