The Beauty of Old Towns

The first stop is the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God located on the territory of Bykovo estate. The temple was built in the pseudo-Gothic style at the end of the XVIII century. The authorship is attributed to M.F. Kazakov and V.I. Bazhenov, the same architects who worked on the imperial residence of Catherine II, known to us today as the Tsaritsyno Palace.

The Church of the Archangel Michael in Kolomna is a fine example of Classicist architecture. The present church acquired its appearance in the XIX century, earlier on this site there were wooden and stone churches. The nearby area was called Mikhailovskaya Sloboda, in honor of the temple's patron saint.

Continue your day with a walk around the Kolomna Kremlin, soaking up the smells and atmosphere of antiquity. In front of you is a real monument of defensive architecture, built by Italian masters. By the way, this Kremlin is not inferior in size to the Moscow Kremlin.

Before leaving for Ryazan it is worth having a hearty lunch. Stop by the cosy cafe "House with Mezzanine". The interior is simple, one might say homely, there are a lot of nice handmade details.
Nearby there is a souvenir shop, you should go there at least to buy the famous Kolomna marshmallow.

Undoubtedly, the main attraction of Ryazan, which holds as many as 18 monuments of history and culture of the XI-XIX centuries. Dominant not only the Kremlin, but also the entire city of Ryazan - Assumption Cathedral, built in the late XVII century, so that is visible even 20 km from the city. A kind of beacon when navigating on the Oka.
