On Chekhov's places

Our first stop will be Melikhovo, a hospitable Chekhov estate. Here you will be able to visit the house of the great writer, and the outhouse, where Anton Pavlovich wrote the famous play "The Seagull" in 1895.

The Trinity Cathedral was built on the top of the Red Mountain in the XVI century. Its other name is Sobornaya Gora. This is where the city of Serpukhov once started.

For lunch we'll drop by the cozy restaurant Kitchen Market - it serves delicious grilled vegetables, as well as various dishes from meat and seafood.

Then you should go inside the existing monastery, built in 1374. Here you can order a tour or see everything yourself.
It is believed that the monastery was founded by Orthodox St. Sergius of Radonezh. Pilgrims travel to this place to pray in front of the icon of the "Unequenchable Bowl".

The last attraction of Serpukhov for us will be the Historical and Art Museum, which is sometimes even called "Little Tretyakovka".
Please note, the museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Lastly, you can take a walk along the high-altitude "Through the Leaves" eco-trail and enjoy the beauty of the reserve and the greatness of its inhabitants - the mighty bison. On the way to the reserve you can stop at the grocery store to buy food for your picnic.
Attention! You can visit the reserve only with a guided tour. On weekends you can take a tour every hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. From Monday to Friday excursion groups are formed at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.
