Stavropol is a small city, but it boasts a centuries-old history, rich culture and incredible art. What you can see for yourself in this journey! After all, we will visit the Museum of Fine Arts, where we can see paintings by great artists, sculptures by famous masters and decorative art objects, get acquainted with the work of local artist P.M.. We will visit the Lermontov monument, visit the Stavropol State Museum of Local Lore, and learn about important events, dates and personalities of the Stavropol Territory in the multimedia park "Russia - My History".
Today we will visit the Holy Ascension Church, visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Stavropol, get acquainted with the work of Russian artist P.M. Grechishkin, visit the monument to M.Yu. Lermontov, walk in the Theatre Square and finish the evening with a dinner in an Italian restaurant.
On our way to Stavropol we will visit the city of Kurganinsk, where we will visit the Holy Ascension Church. The construction of the temple was laid back in 1906, and for its painting were invited the best painters and even students VM Vasnetsov. In the 30s the temple was desecrated and served as a granary for a while, but soon the activity of the temple was resumed. And in 2000 a library was also opened here, which has already more than 4 thousand books! Today it is one of the most important cultural monuments and spiritual centers in Kurganinsk.
Next, we'll have lunch at the restaurant "Petrovich". There is a pleasant interior, cozy atmosphere, and the restaurant menu offers a wide variety of dishes of Russian and European cuisine. Special attention should be paid to meat and fish dishes of the restaurant, which amaze all guests with their exquisite taste!
The next place we will go is the Museum of Fine Arts in Stavropol. The museum was once founded in 1961 on the initiative of a group of local artists. Now the museum has a huge collection of paintings, graphics and applied arts. Here you can enjoy the beauty of paintings by I.K. Aivazovsky, I.I. Levitan, V.V. Vereshchagin, A.I. Kuindzhi, unique items of decorative and applied art and sculptures of famous masters!
Then we will go to the Gallery of Grechishkin, Honored Artist of Russia. The Gallery itself was opened not so long ago, just 33 years ago, when the artist decided to present a collection of all his paintings to the city. The main genre of paintings by P.M. Grechishkin is landscape. On his paintings you can see the incredible natural beauty of those parts of the Earth where the artist himself once visited. And it is not only steppes of Stavropol, but also majestic mountains of Caucasus, Baikal and incredible color of India, Nepal and Egypt! The gallery is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
After a few hours of traveling through the world of art, it would be nice to take a walk. For example, to the monument to M.Y. Lermontov, which is very close, in the Theatre Square. The monument was erected here for a reason, because once Mikhail Yurievich really liked to be here himself.
We will conclude today's cultural program with an evening stroll through Theatre Square, which is a favorite place for walks and recreation for locals. Despite the fact that the park is located in the center of the city, here you can really relax from the bustle of the city, walk along the shady alleys and enjoy the beauty of the plants growing here, which is why the park has a second name - "Small Botanical Garden".
After the walk we will go to the Italian restaurant "Peperoni" for dinner. In the menu you will find a lot of dishes cooked according to original home recipes of Italy: a large selection of pizza and pasta, dishes from fresh seafood, several varieties of cheese and delicious desserts. The restaurant has a pleasant interior in warm shades, cozy dim light and the same atmosphere that disposes to hearty conversations.
Today we will get acquainted with the history of Stavropol: we will visit the Stavropol State Museum of Local Lore, which is one of the oldest museums of the entire North Caucasus, we will visit the memorial "Cold Spring", which is dedicated to the victims of the Civil and Great Patriotic War, we will visit the multimedia park "Russia - My History", as well as visit the monument to V.S. Vysotsky.
The next day of our trip we will start with breakfast at Epi French Bakery, where you can enjoy fresh baked goods, profiteroles and a cup of delicious coffee.
We will continue our acquaintance with the culture and history of Stavropol at the Stavropol State Museum of Local Lore, which is almost the oldest museum of the entire North Caucasus. Here you will find several halls with different themes: nature, archaeology, ethnography, history and temporary exhibition halls. In the museum's collection there are skeletons of many animals, various artifacts from the time of primitive man, household items of the first inhabitants of Stavropol and many other things. If you wish, you can also use the services of a guide at a very symbolic price.
Then we will go to the historical memorial "Cold Spring", which is dedicated to the memory of the dead inhabitants of Stavropol during the Civil and Great Patriotic War. In addition to the memorial itself, there are also five mass graves of fallen soldiers in the Great Patriotic War, red partisans who died during the Civil War, young patriots, victims of white terror, as well as patriots killed by the Nazis. To this day, it is a memorable and important place for the people of Stavropol, where they lay flowers every year.
We'll go to Baton for lunch. Facility's interior is made in pleasant and discreet shades, small details in the form of paintings, openwork lamps, interesting statuettes and even books can be seen everywhere, which creates an incredibly cozy atmosphere. Here you can taste Asian cuisine, traditional Russian dishes, many kinds of pasta and a great variety of fine desserts.
After that we will visit the multimedia park "Russia - My History", the main purpose of which is to present the history of our state without any evaluation judgment. All expositions here are equipped with the latest technology: interactive panels, 3D technology, tablets and much more! There is also an exhibition dedicated to the history of the Stavropol Territory itself, where you can learn a lot about important dates, events and personalities in the history of this city.
On the way back we will go to Armavir, where we will visit the monument to Vysotsky. The sculpture was created by Honored Artist and Sculptor of Russia Alexander Apolonov as part of the Alley of Russian Glory project, and later was donated to the city. Now it is a real decoration of the city!
Next we'll stop by for dinner at Sicily's pizza place. The atmosphere here is completely home, the staff is always hospitable, and the menu includes a large selection of European and Asian dishes. Also you can try any large pizza one slice at a time, so you can try not one but several flavors at once!
