Staritsky Assumption Monastery, "Dvor Proletarka" and the lighthouse on Lake Senezh

An aerial arch bridge connecting the two banks of Staritsa. It was built after the war in 1959-1963. It offers a beautiful view of the city and the Holy Dormition Monastery. The bridge itself is not neglected by travelers and photographers.
For a few kilometers from Staritsa there are no other bridges across the Volga. Before its appearance here was a ferry crossing. In winter people crossed the river on ice.

The chronicles say that in 1110 two monks, Tryphon and Nikandr, came to the Stary Bor area and built a cell. And in 1292 the town of Staritsa appeared.
The first mention of the Holy Dormition Monastery in Staritsa dates back to the XIV century. In 1559 archimandrite Job served here. Later he became the first Moscow Patriarch.
The monastery complex includes the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the rectory, the Gateway Church of John the Theologian, and the Trinity Church.

A small cozy museum is located in a XIX century building in the house of the merchant Shchukin.
It is dedicated to the history of creating waffles, cupcakes, cakes, printed gingerbread and other delicious pastries. There are many baking moulds from different eras, pre-revolutionary cast-iron moulds, and gingerbread boards from Russia and Europe.

The historical complex on the embankment of Tver was built in 1856-1913. It was the first attempt to create a microdistrict for workers at the Tverskaya manufactory.
On the territory were built theatres, laundries and a pharmacy. On the roof of one of the houses was located an observatory. One of the first public parks in Russia was laid out here.
Along the central street you can reach a beautiful building - barracks 70. Locals call it "Paris". The buildings, which are over 100 years old, now house dormitories.

The lighthouse appeared on Lake Senezh quite recently: in December 2020.
Since 2018, a promenade with recreation areas and piers for fishermen has been under construction here. The lighthouse has become part of the new landscaping concept. Its height is 10 meters, it glows in the dark and is located on the shore of Nikolsky Beach.
Senezh Lighthouse has become popular among tourists and locals, and has become one of the best places for romantic walks. During the day you can take a lot of beautiful pictures here, and in the evening you can take in the atmosphere.
