Ascent to Chersky Peak and road to Olkhon Island

The monument to the Eagle, a sculpture of an eagle made of bronze, weighs almost 4 tons.

The monument was designed by the mayor of the Olkhon district, Sergey Kopylov. He used an eagle as a base for his idea because steppe people have been worshipping this mighty bird for thousands of years, besides, it is the symbol of Olkhon.

Here you have reached the ferry crossing. There are several ways to get to the island: 1. From May to December - by ferry by your car or by bus. During the high season and weekends it can take several hours to get to the ferry. 2. From February to March - by ice crossing. Check the opening dates of the crossing at the official website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The crossing works only during daylight hours. Do not go beyond the ice crossing, it is dangerous! 3. In the off-season - on a hovercraft (hovercraft), but it will take you to the island without your car. You can leave your car in the parking lot, but you need to plan further movement around the island.
