The Legendary walk known as Dinas Emrys is steeped in local folklore, it tells a tale of a king who built a castle on the mountaintop, yet every night the walls would collapse, causing his castle to crumble. It was said that the wizard Merlin revealed that two dragons were buried beneath the mountain, and their nightly battles caused the walls to fall.
The king and his men excavated the mountain, releasing the dragons to continue their fight. Eventually, the white dragon was vanquished and fled, while the red dragon retreated to its lair. The castle was built and named Dinas Emrys, and the red dragon has been revered ever since.
Before going, check the map of the trail. It takes about an hour to reach the Dinas Emrys, so it is worth taking a bottle of water with you, although the trail is not really difficult.
