On the traces of the history of Königsberg and its surroundings

It is a former Protestant Reformed church, built in the late 19th century according to the design of a Königsberg architect. The church survived several raids and the war.
The interior decoration of the church is incredibly beautiful and really worth a visit.

The Knights attached special importance to the castle of Insterburg. On the one hand, it was a bastion against enemy attacks of the Lithuanians, on the other hand, a gateway for sorties in military campaigns of the Order. Today the castle houses a museum of local history, which presents many ancient objects.
The castle is open from Tuesday to Sunday.

The Humpback Bridge is a symbol of the city and has the status of a cultural heritage site. From the outside it seems light and weightless, walk across it and you will get to Victory Park.

Tapiau Castle is one of the best preserved castles of the Teutonic Order. It is now an active prison, it is forbidden to enter the territory, you can see it from afar.

On the way back, walk through the square in the historic city center, where there is a tall stele in memory of the soldiers.
Around the square there are beautiful houses, as well as the Tapiau Kirche, which was founded back in 1502.

Fort No. 2 is one of the largest defensive structures. Its area is 255×110 meters, and it is 5 meters deep. The fort is also distinguished by a dry moat, which made it possible to place barracks on two floors.
The fort had stove heating and an autonomous water supply system. In 1907 part of the arsenal was rebuilt into a power station and an accumulator room.

The fifth fort is one of the elements of Konigsberg's defense, which was breached by the soldiers of the Red Army in April 1945. The battles here were extremely fierce. For the storming of the German fortress 15 soldiers of the Red Army received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
In Soviet times near the fort was built a memorial complex, and in the fortress casemates opened a museum, in our time its exposition is greatly enlarged. Museum "Fort № 5" has become one of the most visited in Kaliningrad.

It is "hidden" in a small forest, located on the northern outskirts of the city, a stone's throw from the old highway to Svetlogorsk.
