Day 1: Places of Military Glory

This fascinating journey you will start from the legendary Road of Life, running through birch and pine forests to Lake Ladoga. At each kilometre of the road you will see white poles reminding of the events of the blockade of Leningrad. You'll spend the night by the shore of the mighty river Volkhov.

Museum of the road of the same name, through which was laid the only transport link between the besieged Leningrad and the country. One of the few old Ladoga lighthouses. It managed to survive the bombing as it served not only as a lighthouse for Ladoga shipping, but also as a landmark for Nazi bombers. The area around the lighthouse is fenced, but you can still admire it by walking around.

Admire the most valuable monument of the New Ladoga on the bank of the Volkhov River. This Cathedral reflects the features of medieval architecture of the XV and early XVI centuries and goes back many centuries.

A picturesque historical place, the hills offer views of the Volkhov river. It is said to be the location of Prophetic Oleg's burial place. If you go as far as the bank of the Volkhov River, you can find another interesting place - Tanechka's cave.

Old Ladoga castle (Староладожская крепость)
