This is one of the outstanding monuments of Old Russian stone military-defensive architecture of the early 17th century, preserved in its original form on the territory of the Leningrad region.
The fortress occupies a small area of rocky promontory, bounded by a deep ravine of the Koporki river. The emergence of the fortress has its roots far back in the history of Russia and is associated with the period of the founding of the state.
Now inside the fortress is being restored, but you should come and look at the historical monument all the same!

Once inside the fortress, walk through the alley at the end of which, on the left, there is a temple, leading its history since the construction of the fortress - the Savior Transfiguration Church.
During its history, it has been repeatedly rebuilt, burned, suffered from military operations, but still survived, becoming a kind of chronicler of Koporsk fortress.
