Defensive structures of the Leningrad region

One of the most interesting historical buildings in this region is Ivangorod Fortress. It was built before the birth of Ivan the Terrible and for a long time served as an important defensive frontier against western invaders. The fortress is now part of the Ivangorod Museum Complex, and exciting guided tours are held here daily to learn about the rich past of these lands.
The museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Note: Ivangorod is a border area, you need a permit to stay in the city, it is necessary to arrange it 3 working days in advance. The list of necessary documents and contacts for registration can be found in official Ivangorod Museum community.

Another interesting and very ancient defensive structure in this region is Koporskaya Fortress, located north of Kingisepp in the village of Koporie. Today the fortress is under reconstruction, so you can see it only from the outside.
You can visit the area from Tuesday to Sunday.

Fort Krasnaya Gorka, once defended the approaches to Kronstadt. The remains of some defensive structures as well as railway transporters are still preserved here.
