De Brink is the monumental and central square in the old town of Deventer. Here are, among others, the Waag in which the Historical Museum of Deventer and the VVV are located, the Toy and Tin Museum, the house of Rutger Jan Schimmelpenninck, the former gatehouse Penninckshoek from 1583, and the house De Drie Heringen.

Museum De Waag (formerly Historisch Museum Deventer) is an exhibition space of the 'Deventer Verhaal' foundation. It is is located in one of the oldest weighing houses in the Netherlands. Situated on the Brink of Deventer, the building is one of the city’s iconic monuments. Ideally located on the banks of the river IJssel, Deventer played an important role in the Hanseatic League.

The iconic building of the town is situated on the hill and dominates above the cite. If you're visiting Deventer you definitely need to see it from inside and outside.

Even when there are no events in Deventer, the Hanseatic city on the Ijssel is still well worth a visit. Stroll through the medieval streets and alleyways and discover the many remarkable shops. Closer to the evening, it's nice to have a walk on the other side of the river to check-out the traditional windmill and the scenic area around it.

Before dinner, to gain some appetite, stroll the paths of the Plantsoen Worp park. Very likely you will also witness the local music groups playing in the evening at the local pavilion.
