This Roman Catholic collegiate church is a perfect example of the local Gothic architecture. Built in the 13th century on the foundations of a 10th-century Romanesque church, Notre-Dame de Dinant sits perfectly under the gaze of the citadel above. The church's most notable feature, the pear-shaped bell tower, was a 16th-century addition.
Before you leave the vicinity of the church, take this opportunity to cross the Meuse along the Pont Charles de Gaulle in order to truly appreciate all angles of this beautiful town. The site of previous bridges which spanned the Meuse since around the 9th century, the Pont Charles de Gaulle was constructed in the 1950s and commemorates the time when de Gaulle crossed this point during the First World War.
