Get acquainted with Al-Hofuf and Surroundings

Our first stop is a nice restaurant called Mugalat Al Freej. This is a small, atmospheric restaurant with national cuisine.
There are special sessions for individuals and families. The breakfast at this place is excellent. There is a large variety of dishes including eggs, liver, beans, lentils, and karak.
You can try popular authentic dishes as well as some classy meals.
The restaurant also provides a special children's menu.

Al-Hofuf (or Al-Ahsa) is the major urban city in the Al-Ahsa Oasis, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Al-Ahsa Oasis is an area containing gardens, canals, springs, and a drainage lake, as well as urban fabric, historical buildings and archaeological sites.
Al-Hofuf itself is an oasis of culture and tradition beneath two million palm trees.
According to an ancient legend, Al-Hofuf is the burial place of Laila and Majnoon, characters in the main love story in the Arab world. Their story is a prototype for Romeo and Juliet.

The mountain is located in Al Ahsa National Park. This impressive mountain, made by nature from limestone, will thrill you from the first glance at its beautiful sedimentary layers.
The mountain is 75 metres in height. You can reach the top (no specific training is required), where you will see a panoramic view of Al Ahsa and a lot of green palms, which form an emerald oasis in the middle of the sand desert.
The mountains are full of caves, resulting from sub-aerial weathering. This means that these caverns are cool in summer and warm in winter. The mountain is now highlighted by the lamps, so you have the chance to see nature's beauty in different colours. You can also visit the “Land of Civilizations” museum, with a café and gift shop.

This is the Museum of Archaeology, and it is full of ancient things: some of them are even from the Ottoman era. The museum shows not only the history of Al-Ahsa but also world history, including the First World War.
The museum itself is in the style of an old house from the Al-Ahsa region and is full of history. It shows how people live in these areas. In the museum, you can see a lot of instruments used in the past. You will definitely feel the historical atmosphere here.

Now it's time to have dinner! The ambience is nice, quiet and cosy. The staff are welcoming and cheerful. The food is delicious.
The seafood in this restaurant is highly recommended, especially the fried and grilled shrimps, calamari and salmon. As an alternative, you may try green or arugula salad, pasta, fried chicken, and hummus.
