Makarievskaya fair was considered to be the largest in Russia, and possibly in all Europe: fish, bread, honey, cattle and bells were traded here. Monastic abbots put a lot of efforts to develop the boisterous trade. All incomes from the fair went for needs of the church: at the beginning of the XVII century stone constructions and fortress walls of the monastery were built on this money. The revival [of the monastery](http://makaryzhelt.cerkov.ru/) began in the 90s of the last century, and today the Holy Trinity Makarievsky Zheltovodsky monastery is considered one of the main shrines of the region. In the best traditions of the fair near the monastery walls today you can buy delicious smoked fish: sterlet, catfish, bream, crucian carp or pikeperch. The complex is open from 06:00 to 19:00.
Let's take a short look at Makarievskiy Ostrich farm. Here you will see ostriches of different ages, feed them, try ostrich meat and eggs. You cannot buy ostrich eggs out of season, but feathers and skin cream based on ostrich fat can. Opening hours: Daily from 08:00 to 18:00 without breaks or weekends.
