    From Renoir in Cagnes-sur-Mer to Fernand Léger in Biot

    Today, you will start on the footsteps of Renoir, a famous French impressionist painter, by visiting his last house and museum. Then you will explore Biot, an old town famous for glassware and ceramics, before relaxing on the beach of Juan les Pins.

    This museum is dedicated to Renoir, the famous impressionist French painter. It is housed in Domaine des Collettes, in the last house of the painter. Renoir bought this property in 1908 and got his house built, he spent here the rest of his life until 1919. In the house, you can see where Renoir lived and some original art works by him and also by others about him. You can visit the garden as well and see the setting and atmosphere for many of his paintings. The farm at the end of the parc was the setting of the 1959 movie "Picnic in the Grass" directed by his son Jean Renoir, renowned French filmmaker.

    Musée national Fernand Léger

    The National Museum of Fernand Léger was built in a 1960s style architecture building especially to host some huge masterpieces of Fernand Léger like the 500 square meters mosaic on the façade. The museum showcases more than 450 artworks. You can also enjoy the nice garden around the museum.

    Biot is famous for glassware. So, here you will visit the eco-museum where they explain how it works, but you will also see glassblowers in action. Very interesting visit to learn about the local arts and crafts. Nice galleries of glass art pieces. And of course, you can buy souvenirs. You can also visit some glassware production shops in town. And if you want to bring something home, it is the right place to do so since this is where it is made.

    Plage de Juan les Pins

    After this nice day sightseeing museums and exploring the old town of Biot, where it can be very hot in Summer, it is a good idea to relax on the beach and enjoy a swim in the sea. Juan Les Pins is quite famous and a very busy beach in summer, the sea is nice and warm. After the beach, you can leave your car at the hotel and have a shower before dinner.
