Ain’t the Grand Canyon Grand?
Day 1 of your Flagstaff, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada road trip is jam packed, full of fun activities and stunning scenery. Surrounded by mountains, ponderosa pines and the desert, Flagstaff is a convenient base to exploring nearby public lands including the gorgeous San Francisco Peaks and unforgettable Grand Canyon National Park.
Located at 7,000 feet, Flagstaff has comfortable, temperate weather most of the year but is cold and possibly snowy in the winter season. Depending on the month, you'll want to pack layers and appropriate outerwear since this route includes both mountain and desert environment.
The route today is a mix interstate driving and secondary roads with a few opportunities to charge the vehicle during the day and at the overnight stop in Kingman.
Comfortable footwear and sunglasses are a must for the activities. Don't forget to double check your camera battery for the loads of photos you'll be snapping.
Note: there is a $35 USD fee to enter Grand Canyon National Park unless you have an America the Beautiful National Park Pass.
