Cavo Beach and Surrounding Areas

Follow the signs for the ferry to Portoferraio on Elba Island. It's important to buy your round-trip tickets in advance and arrive at port 1 hour before your departure time. The duration of the trip depends on what ferry you choose; 1 hour, 40 minutes, or 30 minutes. The average price for two people with a medium size vehicle is approximately 70-80 Euros. Once you are on board, enjoy the specatular views of the blue/green water as you cross towards Elba Island. You can choose to sit outside on the deck or from inside the bar with a coffee.

Once you disembark at Portoferraio, make sure you stop in a local market for water and snacks

Get ready to see the oldest castle on the island. You'll see the free parking lot nearby and then start your hike to the stop. The trail is very well marked and should take you about 30 minutes to get to the top. Entering the castle is limited to only twice a week but it's still worth the stop to walk around the castle and get viewpoints of just about every corner of the island.

Make a quick stop by the hotel where you will be staying for the night to park your car and check to see if it's possible to check-in. If not, just leave the car so that you can explore Cavo on foot.

This is the most famous beach on the island and should be visited. Park nearby or even in the hotel that you will be staying at tonight because the rest of the day will be explored by foot. If you are not ready for lunch yet, take time to get lost in the streets and explore the shops.

An incredible atmosphere in the middle of town. Try the stuffed focaccia or just order a pizza. This color restaurant is so welcoming, that anything you order on the menu will hit the spot.

The perfect place to visit for an afternoon walk. The trail is well-marked and the journey is beautiful along the way that should take about 30 minutes. Be careful going inside as part of the spiral stairs is missing. Mount Lentisco is a quiet place with very few people so it's a great place to connect with nature. As you walk around, you'll be able to see rich minerals in the ground

This is a much quieter beach that is just beautiful as Spiaggia di Cava. After walking down from Mount Lentisco, take a dip in see how the sand glitters from all the minerals that are naturally found in the area. Soak it up and give yourself a good scrub so you can glow a bit yourself.
