Visiting Cannes, the Croisette and the Historical Center

Start your nice day in Cannes in this beautiful forest park. You can have a nice morning walk and go all the way to the top where stands a cross at 167 meters high. You will get amazing views of Cannes, the bay and the Esterel coast.

The Forville market is the most typical provençal market in Cannes. You will find fresh local products. You should try the socca which is a typical chickpea pancake. Then you can go up following the old street of Saint Antoine to the historical center of Cannes called Le Suquet.

The Musee de la Castre is now called the museum of the World Explorations. You will find great collections of antiquities from Egypt, Greece and Rome and ethnography from the 5 continents. And you will also learn about the history of Cannes through local paintings.
The museum is located in the medieval castle of the Lerins monks. The square tower and the chapel are listed historical monuments. You will get amazing views of the bay of Cannes from there.

Check out this church built in 1637 in a gothic provençal style. It is also nice inside.

Take the pedestrian street "rue Meynadier", it has nice shops. And you will arrive at the restaurant "L'Ardoise" which has very good typical dishes. It is recommended to take the tartare steak made of raw beef with hand made French fries, it is a typical French dish.

The old port of Cannes was built in 1838. It is a very nice place to walk around and enjoy the sun and the view of the sea and the boats.

This new Palais des festivals was built in 1979 because the Cannes film festival was growing as a bigger event every year. It has 44,000 m2 of exhibition space including several screening rooms for the Cannes film festival. In 2022, the film festival celebrated its 75th birthday. It is the biggest and most famous international film festival in the World. But Cannes hosts over 50 international business events throughout the year making Cannes the second largest business tourism destination in France.
All around the palace, you can look at the walk of fame called "etoiles du cinema" in French. There are over 150 handprints and signatures from actors, producers and international celebrities.

La Croisette is the famous promenade along the beach of Cannes. You will enjoy a nice walk along the avenue with palm trees, with views of the sea on one side and beautiful palace hotels on the other side. The most famous and most beautiful ones are the Carlton, the Majestic and the Martinez, amongst others. You can also enjoy the beach and have a swim. You can choose to lay your towel on the public beach or enjoy a sunbed with a drink on one of the private beaches of the hotels.
