In the morning, head towards the abandoned village of Cape Skorbeyevsky. This once large military garrison was abandoned back in 1996, and today there are deer pastures with beautiful views of the sea and the precipitous coastline of the peninsula. The place is rich in berries, mushrooms, and in the cascade of several small waterfalls there is salmon.

The cape gets its name from the rocks on its outskirts: "kökur" (from the Finnish "köko") means "pointed coastal rock". The local scenery is not inferior to that of Iceland, and the cliffs of the cape offer beautiful views of Vaida Guba and the northern coast of the Rybachy peninsula.

The northernmost mainland point of European Russia is a great place to have a picnic at the edge of the earth. There are no cafes or shops at the campsite, so take care of food and a thermos with hot tea beforehand. The cape itself has huge vertical layers of rock. In the XVI century, the active trade of the Moscow government with Western Europe passed through it. Now only a meteorological station and a lighthouse are located here.

Russia's northernmost active lighthouse has been lighting the way for ships since 1896. It used to be a small log house with a red iron roof, above which an octagonal tower of grey color towered. The lighthouse revived navigation in the area of the bay, fishermen were not afraid of approaching it at night. In the first half of the XX century the cape and the lighthouse became a place of confrontation between Finland and the Soviet Union, changed hands several times and were badly damaged during the war. In 1966 a new 29-metre high, modern lighthouse was built in its place.
