A day in Kronstadt

The third day of the trip begins with a visit to the central square of Kronstadt. On the square there is a cast-iron sidewalk, which is about 200 meters long. We see the maritime cathedral, built in 1903-1913 in the Neobyzantine style. It is the largest maritime cathedral, built in the Russian Empire. Also on the square there is a bronze monument to Admiral S.O. Makarov.

After Anchor Square we go for a walk in the park with cozy alleys. On the territory of the park there is an eight-meter monument to Peter I. And on the embankment of the park you can see an old cannon, anchors from the boats of the "Peterhof landing force".

To learn more about the city and its history, we go to the local history museum, which was opened in 1991. The museum has two permanent exhibitions: "Three centuries of Kronshtadt history" - the history of Kronshtadt, information about the life of local residents, construction of buildings and ships, also models of boats and ships, and "Underwater Archaeology" - the remains of ships, household items, weapons drowned sailors and much more.

Attention: In fall, winter and spring the day off is Wednesday.

We visit one of the main attractions of the city - the lighthouse. It was built in 1752 and is still active, so you can't go inside. However, you can take beautiful pictures near it!

After the lighthouse we will visit another attraction of the city - the monument to the submariners of the Baltic. The monument represents the deckhouse of a real submarine. It was installed on May 9, 2000 to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Fort Konstantin is a former large artillery fort with barracks, batteries, rangefinder pavilion and other buildings and constructions. From here you can see the Kronstadt fortress of the XVIII-XIX centuries.

For dinner - dishes of one of the most famous chefs of St. Petersburg - Evgeny Vikentyev. The restaurant is located in the premises of the former jewelry workshop. Vintage windows, floor and other decorative elements give a special atmosphere.
