On the first stop of your day, pop into the outskirts of Ann Arbor in Dixboro, a 198-year-old historic village set amongst rolling farmland, an old schoolhouse, and a quaint general store. Drive around the small village and stop off to view the one-room schoolhouse located at this spot, complete with an old-fashioned merry-go-round out front. Constructed in 1888, the schoolhouse functioned as an active school until 1958.

Situated across from the old schoolhouse sits the Dixboro General Store. Stop in to peruse the old-fashioned candy, home goods, trinkets, and goodies. Built in the 1840s, the general store's structure has served as a landmark for the village for more than a century. The building once served as a resting and refill stop for the horse-and-buggies traveling from Detroit to Ann Arbor.
Note the store opens at noon on Sundays.
