From the Loire River to the Indre River

You can park your car here for free while you visit the city center on foot.

Walk along the Loire river to see the castle of Tours. It usually shows some photography temporary exhibits if you are interested.

This cathedral took 4 centuries to be built, from 1170 to 1547, so it has different architectural styles. You can visit inside also and the cloister.

Around the corner of the cathedral, don't miss the garden of the museum of fine arts, it has a very impressive 2 centuries old tree. Then you can visit the museum which has a rich collection of Italian and French art.

You can visit the Musée du Compagnonnage, which is the most famous and the biggest in France for this topic. Compagnonnage is inscribed on the UNESCO as the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010. It preserves the unique mean of passing down knowledge and savoir-faire linked to the trades of wood, stone, metal, textiles, leather and culinary trades.

Place Plumereau is the most emblematic square in the old town of Tours. Don't miss the façades of the old buildings from the XVth century. And you can have a coffee on the square with locals if the weather is nice.

The castle of Azay-le-Rideau is an iconic castle in the Loire Valley but it is set up by the Indre river, not far from the Loire. It looks like it is built on an island with a reflection on the water. Visiting inside the castle will show you great furniture and tapestries as well as contemporary art pieces.
