    Walking in Beautiful Gardens

On the second day of the route, you will enjoy not only the castles of the Loire Valley but especially the gardens. You will visit the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire and its contemporary art and famous festival gardens. The castle of Cheverny has great gardens as well but it is famous for its best furnished interiors. It is also famous for being the inspiration of Moulinsart castle in Tintin adventures.

The castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire is located on a hill next to the Loire River. Amazing and imposing outside architecture. What is different about this castle is that you can find contemporary art exposed inside and in the domain of the castle. Don't miss the stables considered as some of the best, also with art pieces inside. The castle is very famous for its gardens festival every year from April to October. You can easily spend 2 hours visiting the castle, the art and the domain and one hour for the gardens festival.

The castle of Cheverny didn't belong to the King. It's a private residence that belongs to the same family for the past 600 years: the Hurault. They still live in the castle. You can still visit a big part of the castle. It is the best furnished castle in the Loire Valley. The gardens offer a nice walk and some statues in the love garden. In Spring, you can enjoy more than 100.000 tulips (see picture above). And from April to October, you can visit the forest part and the canal on a boat.
The castle of Cheverny inspired the cartoonist Hergé for the castle of Moulinsart in Tintin. There is an exhibit in another building in the park showcasing "the secrets of Moulinsart", not to be missed if you are a fan of Tintin adventures or if you are with kids.
Open hours 10:00 – 17:00. After visiting, you can check in at your accommodation "Les suites de Cheverny" which are located on the parking lot of the castle. You can relax or walk around before dinner.
