Nerja and Frigiliana: Beaches, Caves and White Villages

The first stop is the Cueva del Tesoro, in Rincón de la Victoria. It's two and a half kilometres long and is the only cave with a marine origin that can be visited in Europe.
The cave is full of legends, like the one that says that there is a treasure hidden by a 12th-century emperor.
It can be visited in about 40 minutes, but with children it can take an hour. The visit is with an audio guide per person. It is necessary to book tickets in advance on the official website.

Leave your car in this underground public car park, located in the centre of the city, in the Plaza de España.
The car park is also called Parking Balcón de Europa, because of its proximity to the famous lookout.

The Balcón de Europa is the most emblematic place in Nerja, which is why it's a must-see in the city.

Before looking for a place to have lunch (and if it's summer), it is a good idea to walk to one of the nearby beaches to get your feet wet. If you are travelling with kids, it's a good time for them to run and play in the sand.

It can be visited within one hour, but if it's summer, you can stay there longer because the closing hours are extended.

The cliffs of Maro are a natural area with small beaches and walls up to 75 meters high. You can spend a long time looking at the amazing views.
If it is summer, you can practice some water sports such as kayaking. You can also choose to do a short trail.

Frigiliana is one of the most beautiful towns in Andalusia. It's characterized by its white houses and flower pots on the walls.
The best option to visit Frigiliana is to walk through its streets and pay attention to its details. It's perfect to arrive in Frigiliana at sunset because that is when the bars, restaurants and craft stores are open.
One of the sites you can visit is the Plaza de las Tres Culturas. This square commemorates the peaceful coexistence of Jews, Muslims and Christians.
You can also walk up Calle Real and return to the Plaza de las Tres Culturas along Calle Alta. On the way, you can detour through the narrow streets of the old town.
The fountain of the three cultures is one of the details you can find on the way. The symbols that identify Jews, Muslims and Christians are there.

At one of the turn-offs on Calle Real you will find the city's Old Fountain, which the inhabitants used to get water.

To end the day, there's nothing better than a good traditional dinner at El Adarve restaurant. Do not forget to try the fried aubergines with honey there.
Another typical food is the migas made of bread and corn flour served with fresh Mediterranean vegetables or chorizo and blood sausage.
After dinner is time to return home and remember everything done during the day.
