Even if you've never seen Games of Thrones, which featured this stunning scene "Dragonstone" in season seven, this place of majestic beauty will surely impress all.
This route gives the family a leisurely three hours to make the roundtrip walk out to the magnificent San Juan de Gaztelugache, a small islet connected by an incredible man-made bridge.
When you arrive at the 10th Century Hermitage, be sure to have the kids ring the bell with the long rope. Legend has it if you ring the bell three times your wish will come true!
It will be many stairs and a bit hilly coming back but the most impressive views will all be worth it!

You MUST book tickets in advance in order to secure a morning slot of the correct time. In the summer months and on weekends these will book up very quickly so DO PLAN AHEAD.
You will not be able to enter without tickets. Although you can still enjoy the Mirador views and Restaurant.

You have arrived!
This is the site of the long abandoned Castle and 13th Century Hermitage.

A former 1816 villa with killer views has been transformed into a fantastic and easy onsite restaurant with an option for an interior (and quite fancy) restaurant or the adjacent casual outdoor picnic-style communal seating.
The kids will have worked up an appetite after all the walking and the traditional Basque seafood and meat dishes plus child-friendly food will hit the spot.
If possible, hold off on dessert here and enjoy a sweet treat in the Port of Bermeo. (Or do both!)
There will also be many options to grab some Basque Pinxtos (tapas) at your next stop.
The expansive grassy lawn has gentle hills and provides the perfect place for the children to play afterwards.

Pick your car up and drive to the next stop in Bermeo.

Free parking directly at the port is perfect!
Your time in Bermeo will be spent strolling through the old streets and small port of this traditional Basque fishing village.

You'll have ample time here in this Basque village to admire all of the views and explore the small streets leading away from the port.
There are plenty of places to have an ice cream or some traditional pintxos along the harbor.

Bermeo, a traditional Basque fishing village, founded in 1239, will charm you as you venture into the Old Quarter and fisherman's houses.

If you'd like to learn more about this fishing village, traditions and moments in history, consider a stop inside this interesting Basque museum.
There's no audio guide available in English, but the helpful museum guide can provide a written English language pamphlet.
Even if you don't venture inside, it's worth a stop to see the sculptures outside and the building's tower, which is over 750 years old.

Pick up your car from the port and continue to your final destination of the day, Lekeitio.
