Watch the Sunrise at Horseshoe Bend and Tour Antelope Canyon

Wake up early and drive to the Horseshoe Bend overlook to view the scenic highlight of the Glen Canyon Recreation Area at sunrise. Pay a fee at the parking lot. A paved walkway leads to an unobstructed view of the landmark, formed by the Colorado River twisting and turning around a Navajo sandstone cliff. Part of the overlook is fenced, but use caution when exploring less secure areas. By visiting early in the morning, you'll enjoy perfect sunlight for capturing eye-popping photographs.

Time to visit Antelope Canyon, another beautiful landscape located on tribal land. That means you must book a tour in advance. No exceptions. Page has a few options, but the 10:20 a.m. Upper Antelope Canyon tour with Chief Tsosie’s Antelope Slot Canyon Tours is highly recommended. Remember to give yourself plenty of time and arrive early.
The tour begins on luxury 4X4 vehicles for an off-road trek on rugged desert terrain, traveling down the edge of Manson Mesa to the Navajo Indian Reservation. From there, you'll take a 10-20 minute walk that travels into the canyon, where the timing is perfect to see mid-day beams of light peek through the sandstone walls.
The entire tour is 90 minutes. You'll be brought back to where the tour began in Page to pick up your car.

As you head out of town, take a moment to see the Glen Canyon Dam, the 710-foot concrete barrier that created Lake Powell. Pull over at the official scenic overlook to enjoy towering unobstructed views of the dam. The parking lot is convenient and stress-free with a short hike to the overlook.

Pull over for lunch at the Peekaboo Canyon Wood Fired Kitchen in the small, but charming Utah town of Kanab. The modern, but rustic restaurant has an attractive lineup of burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. The pizzas are the specialty, however, served hot and fresh from a wood-fired oven. Vegetarian options are available. The bar is stocked with Utah beer and spirits.
Peekaboo Canyon Wood Fired Kitchen is inside the Flagstone Boutique Inn & Suites. You probably won't have trouble with a table, but you can always call 435-689-1959 in advance to check about availability.
Please note: Utah is in the same time zone as Arizona between fall and spring, but is an hour ahead during Daylight Saving Time (which Arizona doesn't recognize) in the summer.

The restaurant happens to be next to Little Hollywood Land, an outdoor museum that honors Kanab's history as a filming location for cowboy movies, dating back to the 1920s. Take a self-guided tour of sets left behind from "The Outlaw Josey Wales," "Desperate Hours," and other classic films. The exhibit is just over an acre in size and easy to explore within 30 minutes or less. The attraction is free, but donations are encouraged.

You've arrived at Flanigan's Inn, just outside the main gates of Zion National Park in Springdale. Check in and get settled in your new accommodations before heading out for dinner.

You don't have to travel far for a great dinner. The Spotted Dog is on the same property as Flanigan's Inn, serving a variety of casual American cuisine. Recipes incorporate fresh seasonal ingredients from the surrounding region with wild-caught game, sustainable seafood and hormone-free poultry a priority.
Try the meatloaf, made with ground beef, elk and bison, or go in the other direction with a vegetarian grilled polenta with stacked vegetables. The cocktails are loyal takes on classics, while the wine list (with 400 labels) is one of the best in Springdale.
