The main purpose of this mini-journey will be the city of Kasimov. It is the closest to Moscow piece of the Golden Horde and one of the most unusual cities in the vicinity. On the way to Kasimov we will visit exotic sights near Moscow and engage in extreme sports. Do not worry, no special training will be required! We'll spend the second day completely in Kasimov. And on the way back we'll wander around the reserve on the Oka and ancient settlements (Attention! The concentration of beautiful landscapes is off the scale!).
This day will be filled with new impressions. We will shoot a crossbow, drive a buggy, master a wakeboard and conquer the mountains near Moscow. The Moscow region offers hundreds of options for active recreation - just have time to try it! We will meet sunset in the town where Sergey Esenin studied, and overnight in Kasimov.
Just 16 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road there is a great place where you can experience extreme sensations, shake up, get your adrenaline dose. This ADM Raceway is a modern racing circuit with all the fun that comes with it. What can you do here? - learn the basic techniques of skidding (to put it simply, subscript from the soul); - ride buggies, racing cars and motorcycles; - fly light aircraft and helicopters; - to shoot with bow and crossbow; - try karting and much more. Some entertainment is available without appointment, others must be arranged in advance. I recommend that you check the site and price tag carefully before you travel to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Not far from Voskresensk near Moscow there is a curious sight - the so-called White Mountain. Amazing landscapes resemble the glaciers of Iceland. Only in summer these "snows" do not melt, because the mountain consists of phosphorus gypsum - waste from the plant "Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers". If you can't get to the mountain, at least admire it from the outside. It is quite possible that in the near future it will disappear - stored waste is going to be recycled into useful raw materials.
I offer lunch in Egoryevsk, in a family restaurant Schwarz Kaiser. And if it's too early for Kraft beer, it's time for nourishing burgers, grilled salmon and Bavarian soup with sausages!
After lunch, visit the city museum.
Walk around the monastery, take beautiful pictures of historical buildings.
You can stretch bones and have a cup of tea at Hemingway Bar. It is located 600 meters from the Sergei Esenin Museum. It is in this building that the future poet spent three years studying pedagogical science. Alas, the museum closes at 18:00. But nobody will forbid you to admire the building from outside - while walking along the streets of the town, which is famous for its wooden architecture and stone buildings of XIX century.
And if you're hungry again on the way to Kasimov, you can have dinner in a cozy cafe "Burger Time". The menu includes nourishing burgers, snacks, nuggets, Danish hot dogs with pickles, desserts and much more.
We will spend this day in Kasimov, once the capital of the Kasimov Khanate. The state was formed in the middle of the 15th century, when the Moscow prince Vasily settled on the bank of the Oka river the son of the Kazan khan, Tsarevich Kasim. Most likely, it was part of the deal - the day before the prince lost the battle and was captured. The Khanate ceased to exist in 1681, after the death of its last ruler, Fatima Sultan. It is believed that she was strangled by her own servants - for wanting to convert to Orthodoxy. There are still many traces of the rich past in Kasimov, which you will see with your own eyes.
Let's start the walk at Khan Mosque. It is not without reason that the minaret resembles a fortress tower: the building was erected when wars and raids were constantly occurring. The mosque is inactive. You can go up to the tower - the price of the question is only 100 rubles. Next to the mosque is the tomb of Khan Shah Ali. He led the Russian army during the Livonian War. Teke (sacred place) khan was building for himself. The rectangular white stone building is decorated with a board on which dates of birth and death of the ruler are carved in Arabic letters. There is a similar building on the outskirts of the city - the last rulers of the Kasimov Khanate found peace there. But for general information it's enough to get some information.
Cathedral Square is the central square of the city. Around it there are buildings of trading rows, beautiful Ascension Cathedral (1862), two old churches. Look at the white and yellow building - it's the house of Zemstvo Commissioner Skorniakov. He was in charge of the affairs of the local merchant Batashev, Russian Count Dracula. Batashev tortured and killed serfs, burned the police officer alive, bricked up his underground workshops together with people, where the workers printed fake coins. Secret passages were found in the two-meter-high walls of this building on Sobornaya Square, and secret rooms were found downstairs. It is believed that Batashev forced the assistant to keep his fake money here.
Collector Mikhail Silkov made a gift to his native city: he opened two museums - bells and samovars. Be sure to take a look at the last one. Here is the ancestor of samovars - a birdcatcher, and almost three hundred classic "kettles". After the tour you will be invited to a tea party with a samovar and a mountain of sweets. Do not give up this nice (though paid) ceremony. The museum is open every day except Monday.
Once there were 7 bell factories in Kasimov, and the local bells were no less famous than the Welsh ones. I recommend to use the services of a tour guide - each bell has its own history. And don't forget that Mondays are the day off.
Lunch is served in the art cafe "Kasimovsky Dvorik" - it is 50 meters from the Museum of Bells. The menu is very diverse: kebab, fish with vegetables on coals, potato zrazy with mushrooms, bird dishes. And also delicious coffee, which you can take with you and savor on the way to the next attraction.
Ryazan "Dracula" Batasheva had a serf Barkov, who was fond of medicine. He managed to cure his master from an excruciating illness and received a free one as a reward. Having settled in a beautiful house on the bank of the river, an enterprising man has healed beautifully: he bought three gold mines in Siberia, started shipping, opened a pharmacy. His house was famous for its rich interiors - young Alexander II even stayed here. Next to the house Barkov has an observation deck and a river port. Every Saturday, an hour river tram ride starts from here. The time of departure is different each time, it is better to reserve seats in advance. Steamship can be rented - this service will cost you about 4000 rubles per hour.
It is said that near the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord (or St. George) lived its age skomorokh Ivan Balakirev, who was jokingly appointed governor of Kasimov by Peter I (the throne was empty then). He failed to become a new khan. The jester miraculously survived the terrible torture and accusations of treason, after which he never smiled again. His grave is behind this church.
I offer dinner at the restaurant at the hotel "Kasimov". The menu abounds with interesting dishes of traditional Russian cuisine: sterlet ear, pike (crescent-shaped zrazy), pancakes with red caviar. Tatar cuisine is represented by azu - vegetable stew with meat. A solid wine list is a bonus.
The beginning of the third day we will spend in Oka reserve, where cranes, bison and black storks live. After that we will visit Old Ryazan - a ghost town on the high bank of the Oka, and the sunset will be met on Bastanova Hill, under which the remains of the ancient Russian town of Perevitsk are hidden. Get ready: there will be many, many beautiful landscapes!
In the morning we will visit the Oka State Reserve, one of the most picturesque parts of the Meshchera. Visitors have three options: *- "- Standard excursion It includes three blocks: a general introduction to the reserve, visiting the cages with cranes and a visit to the bison nursery. I recommend to choose the excursion at 10.30 (next only at 12.30). The visit will take 1.5-2 hours and don't forget to look at a souvenir shop. *- "- Specialized tours accompanied by scientific staff This option will cost 1500 rubles per group, but you need to record at least 2 weeks in advance. *- Ecological horseback riding in the forest and meadow (routes from 5 to 15 km). * I offer lunch in the neighboring village of Dobryanka. In the cafe "Brykin Bor" promise to feed boiled food, homemade cutlets and rouge pies. The drinks are aromatic herbal tea, cold kvass and homemade mors.
The second point of today will become Old Ryazan - the only one of the capitals of ancient Russia, which turned into a "dead city". The city did not last long: after its ruin in 1237 by Batu Khan it could not be restored. Not much remains of the ancient capital: a huge hill with a flat top. Archaeological values have long been transferred to museums. And the half-destroyed red-brick arch is the remains of the church, which was built in the XX century in memory of the burnt ancient cathedrals.
It's a great trip, isn't it? And for it to be dynamic, come to the Gazpromneft filling station, take water and a snack.
On the way home, we'll meet another settlement, Perevitsk. There's not much information about the ancient city in annals - it was badly damaged during Mongols' attack and Moscow-Razan internecine battles. The place of the disappeared city is called Bastanova Mountain. On its top there is a stone with lines of Sergey Esenin: "How beautiful is the land and a man on it...". Esenin wasn't lying: it's a great place to have a picnic, meet the sunset and finally enjoy the curves of Oki.
We'll stop by the roadside cafe "Pomponchik" for a couple of minutes to pick up branded doughnuts (I recommend swept away!) and a cup of hot tea.
