Rapa Nui
Rapa Nui is right on the beach, and it’s the perfect place to put your feet up and chill out. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it feels like a sort of surfers’ hangout. It’s lovely on the terrace in the sunshine, with one of the best views in the world: the beach and the sea.

Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland
Natural
This park is a lovely place for a walk – or, in this case, a bike ride. Right at the beginning – or the end, depending on how you look at it – there’s a visitor centre with interesting exhibitions. You can have a drink and there’s a playground for kids. But don’t let that distract you. In the park itself you can enjoy the characteristic dune landscape and look out for the grazing animals that live wild in the dunes, such as highland cattle.

Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg
Food
Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg is a magnificent country house built in 1600.
The house at the Duin and Kruidberg Country Estate is huge and very impressive. In the 17th century, wealthy Amsterdammers had houses like this built as their country retreats. The large estate is lovely for strolling and picnicking, and there are benches and seats around the lake where you can enjoy the view.

Here you are rewarded by a fantastic view across the dunes. Duinpaviljoen De Uitkijk is in the middle of the dunes, and when you sit on the terrace surrounded by trees and nature, the city feels far away. You can have lunch, dinner or a drink here, with a wonderful view that’s not to be missed.

Kraantje Lek
Food
Kraantje Lek is at the foot of a steep dune called De Blinkert, which is worth seeing in itself. This cafe and restaurant was originally built as an inn in 1542. Even then, people would come from all over the world to visit the area, enjoy the countryside and paint the landscape – Frans Hals was among them. You can feel the sense of history in the wooden interior.
